Sarah Young is a Certified Massage Therapist, Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) practitioner, and a Chi Walking/Running instructor.  AIS is a method of muscle lengthening and fascial release that provides effective, dynamic, facilitated stretching of major muscle groups.  Her training in martial arts provides her with firsthand understanding of functional biomechanics. Young continues to broaden her knowledge of how the mind, body and spirit work together. Young has a Bachelor of Science from Western Michigan University, a degree in Massage Therapy from Irene Gauthier of Irene’s Myomassology, a Masters in Exercise Science from Oakland University, and a graduate certificate from Oakland University in Complementary Medicine and Wellness.

Melissa Stchekine is a Certified Massage Therapist (ABMP) and a graduate of  Massage Therapy from Irene's Myomassology Institute.  She is currently studying Reflexology/Meridian therapy.  These modalities are based on principles that help locate and alleviate pain and disfunction within the body. Regular massage can support proper integration of body and mind, relieve stress and pain, and assist in achieving better health. She believes life can be a relaxed, happy and pain-free experience. In listening to the body verbal and non-verbal reactions to her touch and pressure, Melissa creates a unique client-specific massage session.

Jennifer Boruch is a certified massage therapist and graduate of the Blue Heron Academy of Healing Arts and Sciences. Jennifer is trained in Medical Massage Therapy which help with musculoskeletal conditions related to injury, disease and aging.  These techniques promote soft tissue repair, joint movement and healing.  She also utilizes cranial sacral therapy, myofascial release, swedish massage and lymphatic drainage techniques as needed to help restore a balanced state of health.

Derek Rutt is a Certified Massage Therapist (ABMP) and a graduate of Massage Therapy from Irene's Myomassology Institute.  He also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering which has meshed well with his Massage Training and has provided invaluable insight into world of Chiropractic.

His primary responsibility is to our new patients as they go through their Initial Visit which involves a number of Musculoskeletal, Postural, and Autonomic Nervous System tests in preparation for their first visit with one of our Doctors. He also assists with our Patient Nutritional Counseling, Rehabilitation Program Development, and other provisions within the BWC Office.

Lastly, Derek is pleased to administer the cutting edge technology from Richard Wolf Medical Instruments Corporation for Musculoskeletal Pain with the WellWave; a Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) device used widely in the treatment of chronic pain in muscles, tendons and in the region of the bones. Derek is happy and feels privileged to serve the community in this capacity. With all things in life, having a positive outlook is essential in achieving that healthy balance we all strive for.

Jody is has been an integral member of the BWC Team for over 9 years. The "go -to" person, Jody excels at problem solving, technological support as well as being a caring and compassionate ambassador for BWC. Jody's warm, friendly demeanor is reflected in all she does. She resides in Troy with her husband, Jeff, 3 rescue dogs and cat. Her free time is often spent with her daughters Carrie and Katie. Her favorite thing about working at BWC is the relationships she has with the patients

 Lauren is an NCBTMB certified massage therapist. She graduated in 2010 from Irene's Myomassology Institute. Her training is mostly in Swedish massage. She also knows Shiatsu, Thai Yurvedic and Reflexology. Shiatsu and Thai Yurvedic are both similar forms of Thai
Massage which are performed on a mat on the floor and involve mainly compression and stretching. Reflexology is performed on the hands and feet where these areas correspond to different organs, nerves and muscles of the body. She has also been trained in Canine Massage.

Janelle is a Certified Massage Therapist and has been practicing in Michigan since 2003. She is a graduate of the Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy where she trained primarily in Myofascial and Neuromuscular Therapies. Together, these two modalities create a deeply therapeutic massage as they address chronic as well as acute pain held within the body.

Janelle is also trained in Thai Yoga Massage which she studied while traveling through Thailand. Thai Yoga Massage is a dynamic yet relaxing form of massage that combines passive stretching with acupressure in order to increase movement and flexibility within the joints, muscles and energy lines of the body.

Julie is no stranger to Birmingham Wellness Center she has been a patient for over 20 years and now has joined the BWC team. Julie is married and has 2 children, her son plays soccer at Adrian College and her daughter is currently in school in the Birmingham area.

She enjoys playing golf, traveling with the family, watching the kids play soccer, and walks with her husband. What she likes best about BWC is the healing atmosphere!

Chelsea graduated from Oakland University in 2009. She has been working for The Birmingham Wellness Center for 3 years as a Chiropractic Assistant and has enjoyed experiencing the progression of health in each patient as well as developing close relations with them.

When Chelsea is not working she enjoys spending her free time practicing yoga, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.

Aileen is the newest addition to the office staff at BWC. A life longsupporter of chiropractic care, Aileen has explored many holistic modalities and continually strives to familiarize herself on non medical wellness practices.

A resident of Royal Oak, Michigan, with her partner Jon and her spoiled Labradoodle Jake, Aileen is a master gardener with a deep appreciation of nature. Creative by nature, she is accomplished at crochet and a self taught jeweler artist as well. Aileen is equally creative in the kitchen, devising healthy, flavorful creations. She managed to remain sane through raising her twins, Riley who now lives in Seattle, Wa and Kelsey a Chicago resident. Her favorite quote is: " If not us who? If not now when?".
